Paper Geographies is an exhibition at Manchester Central Library that brings together 12 artists who use photography to explore the relationships between materiality and place. The expanded field of photography is represented by works that challenge the medium’s own specificity; including documentary and appropriated imagery, performance and sculpture, moving image, analogue processes, digital and 3D animation.

Juno Calypso is an award-winning photographic artist, working with galleries such as TJ Boulting and Foam Amsterdam, and clients including Burberry. In this talk produced in collaboration with Manchester Art Gallery she will present her work to date.

Cherish is an exhibition looking at our desire to document the familiar and intimate. Curated by Victoria Smith and Ted Holborn, final year Photography students at Manchester School of Art, the exhibition will take place over two days in the Link Gallery. It is the first in a series of curatorial experiments from Photography students at MMU.

Each will be presenting their latest work and discussing the similarities and differences between their approach, style and subject matter.

This timely exhibition from documentary photographer and Redeye member David Dunnico, uses humour and biting social comment to unpick the many tangled threads of patriotism, nationalism and branding which hold the Union Jack together (and make it such an iconic graphic design).

Gallery Oldham hosts You Get Me? An exhibition by Mahtab Hussain explores the critical question of identity among young working-class British Asian men. The 24 portraits examine how the weight of masculinity impacts the subject’s sense of self. Showing until Saturday 8 June.
