Redeye secures a further three years ACE funding as a National Portfolio Organisation

We are delighted to announce that Redeye has been successful in securing funding from Arts Council England as a National Portfolio Organisation. Our funding is expected to remain at the current level until 2018, enabling us to continue to deliver our ambitious and innovative programme for photographers over the next four years.

Redeye votes to become a Bencom

Following a unanimous members' vote on 21st May, as part of the organisation’s 15th anniversary celebrations, Redeye is delighted to announce that it will move from being a Company Limited by Guarantee (CLG) to a Community Benefit Society (Bencom).

The proposal was presented to the membership of photographers from the North of England and across the UK. The change was presented as a means of ensuring greater resilience and growth for the organisation at a time when arts organisations are increasingly looking to diversify income.

Portrait Prize copyright grab

The National Portrait Gallery has responded to complaints after amending the rules of its well known photographic portrait prize to include a copyright assignment.

The winner of the John Kobal New Work Award, part of the The Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize 2014, will be commissioned to make a new portrait, but will be required to assign copyright to the gallery of this commissioned work. The New Work Award is only open to photographers under the age of 30. Redeye was contacted by concerned potential applicants to the competition.

Look Festival has new exec director

LOOK Liverpool International Photography Festival, the North West’s premier festival of contemporary photography and photographic practice, today announced it has appointed former arts industry manager Emma Smith as Executive Director. Emma will be responsible for leading the company through its next phase of growth, building on LOOK’s established festival history. She will direct the company's long-term growth strategy and lead the evaluation and delivery of all fundraising and sponsorship efforts.

The Redeye Digital Printing Bursary with Jack Lowe Studio

Redeye is very pleased to announce an exciting new annual bursary for Redeye members: The Redeye Digital Printing Bursary with Jack Lowe Studio.
Each year one Redeye member will have the opportunity to have works printed by highly acclaimed printer Jack Lowe up to the value of £750.

Jack Lowe, photographer and high end digital printer has worked with some of Britain’s most inspiring photographers, including Julian Germain, Paul Kenny, Tom Stoddart, Julian Calverley and Jonathan Knowles to name a few. And we are delighted that he is offering a yearly bursary to Redeye members.
