Hilary Roberts, Head Curator of Photography at the Imperial War Museum will be in conversation with David Drake, Ffotogallery Director, to be joined via skype by exhibiting artist Adriana Groisman.

1982 has been described as a watershed moment in war photography, and war journalism more generally. How did the Falklands Conflict change the way photographers approach the subject of war, and did it pave the way for a new era of independent documentary photography that breaks free from the traditional model of combat photojournalism? What criteria does the Imperial War Museum use for commissioning photographers and other artists?

This special discussion event coincides with the 30th anniversary of the end of the Falklands/Malvinas war, in response to our current exhibition Adriana Groisman: Voices of the South Atlantic.
