twenty minutes

"Twenty Minutes" is a project that explores the behaviour of models when asked to sit in silence for twenty minutes in front of the lens. The number of models used for the project in total will amount to twenty. This will offer the body of work an extensive variety of distinctive results.

In todays' society, it can be said that it is difficult to sit and do nothing whilst remaining in a peaceful mind-set, especially when being observed in front of a camera. The reasoning behind the production comes from the desire to push the limits of human reaction, to explore behaviour. By constructing a non-constructed photoshoot, for example. By telling my model to simply sit, explores how they truly act when being observed doing nothing. This was in fact a manipulation, as they were directed in some way, thus resulting in a mixed bag of reactions from each model.

A number of emotions rose, including sadness, anxiety, anger and joy. The emotion and atmosphere was strange in the studio and so my main aim is for the viewer to also have a sense of the true emotion the model experienced. One of my main methods to achieve this was to use hyper detailed photography to enhance facial reactions and also regards the scale of each image.
