Join photographer Mario Popham and artist Tom Baskeyfield as they launch their publication, Of Flesh and Stone.
The collaborative project, which examines the legacy of slate extraction in North Wales and its connection to England’s first industrial city, was first exhibited in the Granada Gallery spaces at HOME in 2018.
The work has now been reconfigured and committed to the pages of an artists’ book and will be made available to the public following a brief talk on the projects’ progress as well as readings from Tom’s accompanying book of writing and poetry - Stone Words - which will also be available.
Accompanying Mario and Tom will be geologist Ruth Siddall, of UCL. Ruth will reading from her essay on Welsh Slate which was commissioned for the book.
Of Flesh and Stone will be available on the day, alongside the books Shaped by Stone, and Stone Words. Shaped by Stone will be a free addition to anyone who purchases Of Flesh and Stone at the event.
