Artangel Open Platform

This event, with guest speakers is to introduce Open: a £1 million initiative by Artangel, BBC Radio 4 and Arts Council England for new site-specific commissions across the UK.

Open is a call for artists working in any media to share proposals for ground-breaking projects that will transform the UK's cultural landscape.

If you're a visual artist, filmmaker, writer, composer, theatre maker, choreographer, producer or an artist working in the digital space, this is your opportunity to hear about the opportunities Open offers, meet with Artangel's Co-Director James Lingwood and Artangel Producer Seb Emina and special guest (tba) and start to think about what Open could mean to you.

Drinks will be provided and there will be a chance to talk informally with the Artangel team after an initial presentation and discussion.

Artangel will visit twelve cities (from 28 Jan - 26 Feb) across the UK for Open Platform events, providing artists with the opportunity to hear more and to talk to Artangel directly about the open invitation to come forward with project proposals by 29 April 2013. Open in Manchester will be held at The Whitworth Art Gallery working in partnership with cultural organisations and networks across the region to spread the word amongst artists of all disciplines.

Open is commissioned by Artangel in association with BBC Radio 4 and Arts Council England.
