A rare opportunity to attend a study day at the Humphrey Spender studio, darkroom and archive. Rachel Spender will show prints from the archive collection. Spender's master printer Stuart Keegan will instruct in darkroom printing from one of Spender's original negatives.
It takes place at the studio in Essex where Spender painted and designed textiles and wallpapers and in Spender's original darkroom where he printed his own documentary photographs from the 1930's negatives.
You'll gain a rare insight into the printing techniques of Spender's master printer Stuart Keegan who has over 30 years' experience making prints for many great photographers from Picture Post to contemporary archives. You'll receive individual tuition to make a photographic print from a Spender negative using his darkroom and Ilford materials.
