This summer the University of Salford has organised set of short courses running during June and July. The photography based courses include introduction to darkroom photography, intermediate darkroom photography and photography for performance.

Introduction to Darkroom Photography
This course is aimed at the complete beginner, who wants to gain a deeper understanding of the technical processes underpinning traditional photography, and the historical developments that continue to inform its concepts, language and techniques to this day. You will be guided through the darkroom processes from shooting a roll of film to developing a set of prints. As well as acquiring technical skills, you will learn creative approaches to capturing images, receive a historical overview of the subject, and have the opportunity to experiment with the creative possibilities of manual development and printing.

Saturday 1 June and Saturday 8 June, 10am-5pm
Cost: £190

More information and tickets here.

Intermediate Darkroom Photography
Building on techniques and skills introduced in our introductory course, these four sessions offer the opportunity to explore darkroom processes in greater depth and develop greater technical skill. Working closely with an experienced professional, who will guide you every step of the way, you will learn more advanced concepts and techniques, and will have greater opportunity to identify and explore emerging areas of personal interest in traditional photography and photographic processing.

Photography for Performance
At the end of this course, regardless of whether you are a professional, enthusiast or student photographer, you will have gained a deeper understanding and confidence of how to approach performance photography, from the creative and technical standpoints, exploring a range of approaches to subject and interpretation.
