New Birmingham Photography Hub and Network

The Library of Birmingham has been awarded a major grant by Arts Council England to undertake a 2 year project to create a new strategic hub and network for photography and photographers in collaboration with national and international partners. The project will be called Grain.

This is the largest Grants for the Arts Award given to photography in the region.

Liverpool Photography Festival LOOK13 is Announced

LOOK13, Liverpool's international photography festival, has announced the theme, dates and delivery team.

LOOK13, one of the UK's leading photography festivals, will be launched on Liverpool's Light Night, 17 May 2013. Taking place in venues across the city, it will present an exciting mix of events, exhibitions, participative projects and public realm works.

a-n degree shows guide 2012

The a-n degree shows guide 2012 designed by guide editor Chris Sharratt and designer Alan Ward of Axis Design lists many of the degree shows around the UK. The guide also gives practical advise for graduates about amongst others buying and collecting works and how to move ahead after graduating.

L'Iris d'Or and Kraszna-Krausz winners announced

American photographer Mitch Dobrowner has been announced as this year’s winner of L’Iris d’Or - the 2012 Sony World Photography Awards Photographer of the Year.

Dobrowner was presented with the award during the Sony World Photography Awards Gala ceremony at the Hilton Hotel in London’s Park Lane for his series of black and white images, Storms.

The Photographers’ Gallery announces public opening date 19 May 2012

The Photographers’ Gallery will unveil its new home for international and British photography in London's Soho on Saturday 19 May 2012.

The Gallery’s opening will mark the conclusion of its ambitious £8.9 million capital campaign,
which has been generously supported by Arts Council England’s Lottery Fund alongside a range of Trusts, Foundations, corporates and individuals.

The Canadian photographer Edward Burtynsky and New Delhi based Raqs Media Collective will launch the 2012 exhibition programme on Saturday 19 May 2012.
