Network Meeting - Manchester

24 February 2010, 00:00

The date and venue for the next Manchester network meeting are now confirmed - 7pm, Weds 24th Feb 2010 at the Mechanics Institute, 103 Princess St (Major St Entrance), Manchester, M1 6DD.
We're delighted to be welcoming Paul Floyd Blake, for his first public event since he won the UK's most prestigious portrait prize, the Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize at the National Portrait Gallery, with an image from his series On Track For 2012. The body of work, taken between 2007-12, follows a number of young athletes, with the potential to perform at the London Olympics. It captures their growing up in the ultra competitive world of modern sport. You might remember Paul as the first winner of Redeye's This Working Life award; he also recently exhibited at Manchester Art Gallery. You can see more of Paul's work at www.floydphotography.co.uk

After the talk, please have a drink and stay for a discussion on Redeye's plans. A decade on from our first event, the photographic world has changed, and the opportunities for the Manchester photographic community have multiplied. What can we do to make Manchester the greatest city in the world to be a photographer? What would you like to see happening? Redeye's staff will be on hand to listen to your suggestions. Free entry and all are welcome. Arrive from 7pm for a 7:15pm start. Please register if you would like to attend.
