Commissioning for Change Lab with LOOK/17

In partnership with LOOK/17 Festival, Redeye presents a daylong event on improving the commissioning process and building better relationships between commissioners and photographers.

A day of talks, workshops and a panel discussion to celebrate the contemporary photobook hosted in partnership with Manchester School of Art.

There are a wealth of creative possibilities waiting for you once you have learnt how the camera works.

The final career development workshop takes you on a journey through the countless ways you can get work published in print and digitally. Which ways are worth pursuing?

Redeye's Snapshots are a series of skill sharing workshops, offering quick introductions to new creative ideas and techniques.

Jessa Fairbrother is a widely acclaimed photographic artist known for the intricate hand embellishments into her work. For this Snapshot she will be talking us through her current investigations and the use of embroidery that concentrates on knots.

Redeye's Rethink Sessions aim to help photographers and artists navigate the COVID-19 crisis; to reprioritise, and find new ideas and income during the pandemic and beyond.

A good artist statement gives the audience an access point into your work, communicating clearly who you are. It is about finding your creative voice. For this Rethink Session we will take a focused look at writing about your work with writer, curator and academic Camilla Brown.

Please join us for a four hour beginners workshop with Redeye Member Jeni Harney to learn the step by step proccess of how to make your own Cyanotype prints. Cyanotype is a photographic printing process that produces a cyan-blue print. The event is part of a Redeye series where members suggest and host events based on their skills or interests. Have you protected your photography in a robust way online and offline? Are you at risk of missing out on payment? What can you do if you find your photography or visual art copied and stolen for online use?

Some say this is an unfortunate by-product of the internet and social media, but it is possible to be paid for this work by following a few simple rules. Following his very popular session at the National Photography Symposium 2018, we are delighted to be working in partnership with the NUJ to welcome back photographer John Walmsley to explain how to do it.
