NB If you're arriving on Saturday, registration on that day only takes place at Strand Palace Hotel.
The National Photography Symposium explores the most critical and talked-about subjects for photography and photographers. Now in its fourth year, it's strongly recommended for anyone interested in the development of photography in the UK.
In 2012 it takes place in collaboration with World Photo London at and around Somerset House, Strand, London WC2R 1LA.
It consists of a range of panel discussions, presentations and practical sessions. There are also plenty of opportunities to meet and chat informally, and look at photography.
In 2012 the fourth Symposium covers issues around ethics and the press; the pros and cons of collaboration and co-operation for both individuals and organisations; recent developments in archiving; new patterns and models for employment in photography; and the effects on photography of global economic change. Around 20 speakers, including many top professionals from across photography, will present on these and other subjects.
Francis Hodgson, the writer and photography critic of the Financial Times, called it "The most important forum in UK photography."
Karen Strunks of the 4AM project said "What a weekend. I am all photography inspired."
