17 May 2012, 17:30 to 19:00

EVENT CANCELLED.

We are very sorry to say that this event has been cancelled due to the speaker being taken ill. If you already bought a ticket there is no need to do anything; you will be refunded automatically.

We are pleased to welcome the photographic artist Joachim Schmid for an evening talk in Manchester in collaboration with Manchester School of Art at Manchester Metropolitan University.

Joachim Schmid is a Berlin based artist who has been working with found photographs since the early 1980s. His work has been exhibited internationally and is included in numerous collections. In 2007 Photoworks and Steidl published a comprehensive monograph Joachim Schmid Photoworks 1982-2007 on the occasion of his first retrospective exhibition. In 2009 he founded ABC Artists' Books Cooperative, an international network of artists who make print-on-demand artists' books.

In his presentation he will introduce a series of photo-based works he made during the past thirty years and elaborate some of the ideas that play a role in making these works - found photography, appropriation, photo-recycling.
