Redeye is proud to present an evening talk and networking event with Jerwood Photography Prize winner Luke Stephenson, looking at his work which explores life in Britain and the British psyche through a series of projects including Spectacle Wearing Folk, The World Beard and Moustache Wearing Championships, The Clown Egg Register and An Incomplete Dictionary of Show Birds amongst others.
About Luke Stephenson
Luke was born in 1983 in Darlington, North East England.
Life in Britain and the British psyche are at the core of Luke’s work. He photographs what to many epitomises the eccentricity of Britain. Often humorous in their outlook, his series range from prize budgerigars to the World Beard and Moustache Championships. Whether animate or inanimate objects, Stephenson creates affectionate portraits of his subjects and documents worlds often hidden from the mainstream.
He graduated in 2005 and has worked as a freelance photographer since. The same year he was awarded the Jerwood Photography Prize and in 2006 was selected as one of ten photographers to showcase their work at the International Festival of Fashion and Photography at Hyeres, France.
His work has been published in a variety of places including The New York Times Magazine, The Guardian, Dazed & Confused, Foam, Art Review and Wallpaper*. His prints are sold by The Photographers’ Gallery, London.

Venue and Timing
The network event will take place at The International Anthony Burgess Foundation, Engine House, Chorlton Mill, 3 Cambridge Street, Manchester, M1 5BY at 18:30 on 11 March 2014.
The doors open from 18:30 with the talk starting at 19:00. There will be the chance to chat and network over a drink and catch up on the latest photographic news.
