Stockport College, BA (hons) Documentary & Fine Art

This show looks at the diverse range of work ranging from portraiture to landscapes, from memories of family relationships to notions of power and cross cultural identities.
There is a mixture of documentary work but also conceptual installations that deal with more subjective matters with many different formats of work utilised; whilst some students work digitally manipulating their work there are also others shooting on large format and using pinhole techniques.

With 18 people in the third year there is a sense of close community and relevant feedback to each other’s practice.

The nature of the course is varied and is very much open to ideas generated by the individual. It deals with contemporary ideas and the practical skills involved in achieving realisation of various projects.

Influences include cinema, visual arts and of course photography, whether it be historical or current.
