Redeye's Rethink Sessions aim to help photographers and artists navigate and adapt to the COVID-19 crisis; to reprioritise, and find new ideas and income during the pandemic and beyond.
Photographers and artists have always created valuable historical records at times of crisis, including the current COVID-19 pandemic. Join us for a Rethink Session with Ian Hunter of Littoral Arts looking at the various works that photographers and artists are producing, and to talk through our collective response.
Littoral Arts Trust supported artists in 2001 to produce the Cultural Documents of the Foot and Mouth Disease pandemic, and are currently advocating for the need for a similar, structured documentation of the COVID-19 pandemic.
This discussion will consider how we can support each other to continue to document the pandemic, the lockdown and its effect on our daily lives and cultural consciousness.

Ian Hunter is an artist, curator and arts policy consultant. Former Curator and Acting Director at the National Art Gallery of New Zealand, and community arts development worker for NCCL/GLC in London. He established the Littoral Arts Trust in 1990, an artist‐led trust for environmental and social change. Ian also organised some of the early socially engaged art practice conferences at Salford University, and Critical Sites in Dublin. He currently leads the Trust's Merz Barn project in Cumbria, the rural cultural policy R&D work which proposes new arts and cultural interventions in the context of mainstream agriculture and rural development policy, and the associated new creative rural economies initiatives.

This event is free and open to all. Recommended for photographers, artists and other creators, and anyone taking a long view of how the pandemic might affect things.
When?
Tuesday 19th May 2020, 6pm - 7:15pm.
Where?
Online! Booking will close on Tuesday 19th May at 2pm and we will then be in touch with everyone who has registered with the meeting code and password. You will need an internet connection and a computer, smartphone or tablet. This event will take place over Zoom, you don't need an account to join in but if you have an older browser you might find that the desktop app runs more smoothly.
