Become a Redeye Board Member

Information on applying for the position of board member at Redeye

Redeye is seeking to appoint three new board members in late 2010. This will coincide with a period during which we will be opening new areas of activity designed to bring increased revenue into the organisation.

About Redeye:
Redeye is a not-for-profit organisation set up to support photographers and improve the health of photography. We are open to all, regardless of area or level of practice. We deliver an ambitious and internationally respected programme of development activities including network events, lectures, workshops, symposia, debate, advice and information, through advocacy and partnership working. We recognise that a growing number of photographers work across disciplines, collaboratively, and in other fields, and serve this increasing diversity in our activities.
“Redeye is a leader among a strengthening body of nationally significant photography-focused organisations that address career development for professionals.” - Arts Professional Magazine

Who we’re looking for:
We intend to appoint new non-executive directors who like what Redeye does. As well as contributing your time, professional experience and enthusiasm, you will also be able to advocate on behalf of Redeye regionally and nationally. We’re seeking people with an interest in photography and its development, but more especially we are looking for those people who have high-level experience, and great contacts, in one or more of the following: politics and local government, business, management, accountancy, law, human resources, the public and voluntary sectors, or similar professions.

Your commitments:
As a board member you will be needed for quarterly evening board meetings in Manchester, and one annual awayday. Most board members also attend subcommittee meetings on average twice or three times a year in daytime or evening. You are also encouraged to attend major Redeye events, and keep up with news and developments. Appointments are normally for a three year period with the option of re-election for a further three years. The posts are unpaid.

What we need from you now:
If you would like us to consider you for the board of directors, please write to us, by noon on 6 October 2010, explaining what you can do for us, and draw attention to particular areas in which you think you would be able to help. Please also include your CV or biography and two referees, at least one of whom should be a current employer, senior colleague or (if freelance) a regular client. Email (preferred) to jobs@redeye.org.uk, with the subject 'Board appointments', or post to Paul Herrmann, Redeye, Chinese Arts Centre, Market Buildings, Thomas Street, Manchester M4 1EU, UK. All emails will be acknowledged – if you don’t receive a reply within 72 hours, please phone 0845 456 0260. You can use the same number or email for other queries. Interviews for shortlisted candidates are planned for late October 2010.
