On the Concrete will explore the popular genre of Street Photography through its many different expressions, its history and its contemporary forms. With leading practitioners in the field, we will be focusing on street photography in other cultures, outside the Western paradigm, as well as looking at how legal restraints at home and abroad affect how much of public life it is possible to document. We may even be able to work towards a definition of this notoriously hard to define, but perennially relevant, photographic practice. This seminar will take place in Derby as part of the Format Festival 2011.

Five renowned industry practitioners, representing different backgrounds and disciplines will each discuss their individual experiences and approaches and share their knowledge.
