PHOTOGRAPHY AND LABOUR ON THE MARGINS

October 4th – 7th 2007, Dom fotografie, Liptovský Mikuláš, Slovakia

The conference is part of the Changing faces: three-year EU Culture 2000 funded photography commission project focused on the theme of WORK and run through the International Photography Research Network (IPRN, www.theiprn.org).

The main area of focus for the conference is photography and its relantionship with the representation of WORK – the main theme addressed by the Changing Faces project. The objective of the event is to share histories of photography presenting modern and contemporary work, the goal is to initiate a stronger dialogue between East and West.
Margins si the central theme of the third IPRN conference in Slovakia, linking together the issues of people, places and concepts with a specific emphasis on the viewpoints of Eastern European countries. The conference will explore these issues using photographic practice and theory from a range of artists, curators, academics, researchers and writers to stimulate debate.
