Source Photographic Magazine - Publication Opportunity

This is an opportunity to pitch a piece of new photographic work to the editors of Source. The magazine is interested in seeing new projects for consideration for publication and want to arrange meetings with those working with photography on Saturday 18th November at Northern Gallery for Contemporary Art in Sunderland.

Meetings will be arranged from a selection of material emailed in advance. Please email John Duncan at john@source.ie with a two paragraph description of your work and 6 screen res. jpegs ( approx. 300k max per image). The magazine publishes a wide variety of work but it is preferable to have seen a copy of the magazine prior to sending material. The magazine normally publishes work over eight pages. Unfortunately there is no fee for published work. We normally don't publish calls for unpaid work but a feature in Source is widely seen as a good career move. Source can also be seen at

Ori Gersht's The Forest & Craig Fisher's Bloody Mess
Leeds Met Gallery
Until Saturday 14 October

Two contrasting exhibitions, featuring photographer (and recent Redeye speaker) Ori Gersht. His quietly haunting visions place the viewer deep in a forest. In what initially appears to be a sylvan idyll bathed in pools of dappled light, a number of trees start to fall mysteriously in front of the camera, crashing down to earth in an overwhelming cacophony of breaking timbers and branches. Afterwards silence and tranquillity return as if the act of destruction had not happened at all.

This work is contrasted with Fisher's fabric sculptures in Bloody Mess - they suggest a narrative which leads the spectator through the spaces, examining representations of violence and disaster and the seductive quality of such imagery.
