The Portico Library, Manchester, is seeking photographers for its popular annual group photography exhibition 'Northern Exposure'.
Northern Exposure showcases the work of both amateur and professional photographers based in the North of England, helping to promote, support and develop the creative talent that our region has to offer.
Northern Exposure 2014 is set to take place in March and will run throughout the month. There is an exhibition handling charge of £86.00 per photographer inclusive of VAT, which covers hire of the space and exhibition costs. This includes: Cover of up to £38,500 insurance, Design work for publicity material including invitations, posters and catalogues, Catalogue production, Printing costs, Press release, Promotion via our website, Staffing and invigilation throughout exhibition, Handling of sales from purchase to collection, Assistance in installation and dismantling of work.
The library takes 35% commission on sale of work, with 20% VAT on the commission. Photographers should take this into consideration when pricing their pictures.
In order to apply, photographers should provide several good quality images of their work (specifically the type/style of photography they intend to exhibit) together with a brief biography or artist’s CV. These can be sent by e-mail to exhibitions@theportico.org.uk or by post to our Exhibitions Organiser at the above address.
