EAST MEETS WEST2
Exhibition opportunity for emerging photographers and filmmakers based in the Midlands
QUAD, FORMAT (Derby) and GRAIN Projects (Birmingham) are seeking submissions from emerging photographers and filmmakers who are based in the East or West Midlands, or those who have recently graduated (within 3 years) from a Midlands-based university.
The jury are inviting you to submit new or existing photographic or short film works that broadly relate to the theme of LEISURE. Selected artists will be invited to exhibit their work in QUAD’s Extra Gallery Spaces and take part in portfolio review sessions with industry expert(s) as part of their ongoing commitment to supporting the development of emerging talent within the region.
LEISURE noun
time when one is not working or occupied; free time.
The term leisure brings to mind a myriad of subject matter, from the quintessentially British seaside resort, the local bingo hall, binge drinking students, a five-a-side football match or videogames with friends; everyone has their preferred ways to spend their leisure time, whether alone or with friends, and meaning something unique to each individual.
The jury wants to see your interpretations and projects exploring LEISURE in response to QUAD’s main gallery exhibition Doug Fishbone’s Leisure Land Golf, a fully playable mini golf course for which nine artists have each been commissioned to design a hole.
