Exhibiting and Print Sales for Photographers

26 October 2011, 16:00 to 19:00

A half day workshop for photographers that explores options for exhibiting work, building relationships with galleries, and guidelines for editioning prints. It takes place from 14:00 to 17:00 on 26 October 2011 in the Annexe at Cornerhouse, Manchester. Tickets are available from the Cornerhouse website.

We're very pleased to welcome back one of our most popular and informative presenters, Shirley Read. An acknowledged expert in this field, and author of the book Exhibiting Photography, Shirley will discuss some of the central questions around looking for exhibitions, organising yourself as an exhibiting photographer or artist, planning an exhibition, making the best use of any available space, designing shows, sequencing & juxtaposing work, framing and hanging. In addition, Redeye's Paul Herrmann will present a roundup of advice on pricing prints, and deciding on whether and how to limit the edition of each print.

This event is aimed at any photographer who is considering exhibiting their work, or selling prints.

Shirley Read is an independent curator and author. She recently completed a Research Fellowship at the London College of Communications looking at the development of photographic exhibiting in Britain. She teaches exhibition workshops at all levels and regularly interviews photographers for the Oral History of British Photography, part of the National Sound Archive at the British Library. The second edition of Exhibiting Photography is due out in 2012.
