Presented by Open Eye and Redeye, Network Meetings are regular get-togethers for photographers who can meet, mingle and hear a talk by invited speakers. The first Network Meeting in our new space invites Merseyside photographers Tony Mallon, Adam Lee and Steve Judson to discuss their participatory photography practices, focussing on collaborative work with communities.
Adam Lee is a Liverpool-based photographer and workshop facilitator. He delivers participatory programmes for disabled people as well as producing freelance projects for charities and local authorities in the North West. Adam also regularly leads workshops for Photovoice, who provide participatory photography for marginalised groups internationally.
Tony Mallon is a multi-media artist whose work promotes community access and participation. He has worked with a range of marginalised and socially disadvantaged communities as well as young people with emotional, behavioural and learning difficulties. As part of Look11 he delivered the community photographic project, Birth not Worth in Kensington, working with mainly elderly residents to produce a photozine.
Steve Judson is a Wirral-based photographer and workshop facilitator. His photographic work explores issues around housing, neighbourhoods and communities. His collaborative projects with young people include a programme of workshops for the Chambre Hardman trust with a variety of youth groups. He is currently campaigning and documenting the fight against demolition of properties with the GranbyFourStreetsTrust in Toxteth.
Arrive at 18:30 onwards; talks starting at 19:00.
