Redeye's Rethink Sessions aim to help photographers and artists navigate and adapt to the COVID-19 crisis; to reprioritise, and find new ideas and income during the pandemic and beyond.
Please join us for a Rethink Session with Dr Katrin Joost presenting a philosophical take on the COVID-19 pandemic and its effect on our lives individually and collectively.
‘Self isolation and other restrictions lead to the shrinking of our lifeworld. It is in some ways similar to experiencing illness, but on the other hand the current situation is essentially a collective experience. I feel this has two opposing consequences; on the one hand the world feels objectively different - this means that it is not only an individual response to personal circumstances, but we all have to relate to our surroundings and other people differently. On the other hand, there is comfort in not being alone in this situation. We could partake in a deep experience of solidarity that makes us all consider our humanity.’
