A very rare chance to obtain a signed first edition copy of Tom Wood's new book, Men and Women, and attend a short introductory talk and signing with Tom in Liverpool. The book consists of two hardback volumes in a paper slipcase. Both volumes will be signed. Copies are limited to one per person.
'There can be no doubt that Wood is one of the most important, yet elusive and misunderstood, photographers in contemporary British and European photographic culture.' - Michael Grieve, British Journal of Photography
Almost all of Tom Wood’s books are now out of print and have become sought-after collector’s items.
Men and Women is a two-volume book accompanying the first major retrospective of photographer Tom Wood. Between 1978 and the early 2000s Tom Wood has been continuously photographing the lives of people of Liverpool and the Merseyside area. Edited from long-term and previously unseen bodies of work, including Football Grounds, Shipyard and Dock and Women’s Market, Wood has worked with artist Padraig Timoney to re-evaluated these photographs into one project.. The photographs in these books include both candid and posed portraits of people alone or in groups. Images of strangers are mixed in with those of friends and family and are often made from repeated visits to particular locations.
Size in slipcase 262 x 204 x 40mm approx. Total 344 pages. ISBN 978-3-86930-570-7. Publisher: Steidl.
