Yoo-TOH-pee-a is an exhibition which looks at the changes in social space, the place of community and the regeneration process. This process is all around us - and is spreading through Leeds over time. This is the first in a programme of exhibitions, events and workshops in which we try to create a new form of dialogue between the community and change. The initial exhibition focuses on being the last use of a space about to be removed.  From the rubble, something new rises.

Hothouse arrives in Leeds for a day-long celebration of photographic talent. Throughout the day there will be short presentations from photographers about their recent work and projects, plus ample opportunity for networking and showing portfolios and books. Redeye is delighted to be working with Miniclick and Lens Think Yorkshire on this edition of Hothouse; they have both contributed to the day’s programming.

Everyone has a need to play. We develop this need almost immediately. It is an altered state, a form of concentration that offers the purest of pleasure.

Games were invented to focus this need, to court this pleasure. From the simplest street games, to the most intricate disciplines, they all follow the same principle – to play, to learn, to test, to compete, to enjoy. Football has become the most popular game ever played. What comes with such lasting magnitude is culture and history, a history full of love and inclusion, prejudice and intolerance. Football reflects the times.
